Song meaning of Poetic Justice by Kendrick Lamar (Ft. Drake)

Ah, Poetic Justice by Kendrick Lamar featuring Drake, a song that’s about… well, we’re not sure, but it involves a lot of seductive photographs, one-off vacations, and fighting. Kendrick starts off declaring that he knows this bad bitch in question can get it anytime, and he can recognize her fragrance without her having to say anything because he’s that good. He then professes his love through writing poems in songs about her, and asks where her friends are at because he wants to show her off. Kendrick also mentions that he wants to drink champagne with her, and curse her name on cold nights. Well, that’s certainly a unique way of showing affection. In Drake’s verse, he talks about trying to take his East African girl and her momma to the motherland, but she’s too busy messing around with some other guy. He then talks about wanting to talk more and fight less, which is a solid relationship goal. Kendrick closes things up by declaring that love is not just a verb, and he can hear her heartbeat when she’s near him. Oh, and there's a skit at the end where someone gets threatened if they don't reveal where they're from. All in all, it’s a strange mix of romantic and threatening vibes, but we’re here for it.
