Song meaning of The Alcott by The National (Ft. Taylor Swift)

Well well well, if it isn't The National featuring Taylor Swift, and here we are with "The Alcott". From what I gather, Matt Berninger is one dramatic fella who pulls off the whole brooding and pained artist shtick with aplomb. He's talking about meeting someone at The Alcott, and even though we have no idea where that is, it already sounds like a drama-filled joint. The person he's meeting, who we can assume is Taylor Swift since she chimes in later, is sitting there with a "golden notebook" jotting down thoughts about someone who used to be Matt? The plot thickens! Matt starts blubbering about how he thinks he's falling back in love with this mystery woman, and Taylor's just like "ugh, tell me something I don't know". The whole thing is just a mess, with Matt ruining everything like he always does, and Taylor just trying to keep it real even when all he wants to do is cry about his feelings. Sounds like a typical Monday to me.
