Song meaning of Beat You There by Will Dempsey

So, we've got Will Dempsey trying to convince us that death is not such a big deal after all in his song Beat You There. Apparently, God always takes the good ones first, but Will's like "whatevs, man, it's all good." He's trying to be strong, but it's hard when the ones you love are six feet under. However, he still wishes he can talk to them because, you know, maybe they'd give him a tip on how to get the perfect tan or something. He tells us not to waste our lives being sad, but instead hold on to the memories we shared with the departed. It's all good, folks! We're all headed to the same place anyway, but he's got one up on his loved one because he somehow beat them to the final destination. Will's trying to be all positive and stuff, but he'll still raise his beer and wipe away some tears because, let's face it, he may have beat his loved one to the grave, but it's still sad as heck.
