Song meaning of New Slaves by Kanye West

Ah, the lovely Kanye West with his hit song "New Slaves". Let's break this one down, shall we? In the intro, Kanye is telling us to chill, but clearly he's the one in need of some deep breathing exercises. He starts by reminiscing about how his mama grew up in a time where clean water was only for the "fairer skin". So basically, his mama couldn't drink from the same water fountains as white folks. Then he talks about how he had to do his own laundry growing up, which sounds like a real hardship, Kanye. He then compares this "broke nigga racism" to the "rich nigga racism" where people pretend to welcome you in their fancy stores but really just want you to spend all your money. Kanye's not having it though, he's not a follower, he's a dick. Classic Kanye. Then he really starts to get fired up and talks about how he's the new slave, seeing blood on the leaves and throwing Maybach keys like they're going out of style. He also mentions how people are trying to control him with contracts and how he's going to move his family out of the country to escape the haters. And then we get a little history lesson on the privately owned prison system and how it's basically modern-day slavery. But don't worry, Kanye's going to tear shit down and air shit out. The song ends with some Hungarian lyrics that I can't even begin to translate, but let's just say it's a unique way to finish a song. All in all, "New Slaves" is just another classic Kanye rant.
