Song meaning of Nikes by Frank Ocean

So, Frank Ocean starts off by calling out all the gold diggers out there who only want Nike shoes and are looking for a man to buy them for them. Sorry ladies, but Frank ain't falling for that. He goes on to compare himself to Othello, saying that if you're only interested in the knock-off Nikes, you must be on some sketchy white powder. Frank is all about the real deal, just like how he wants a real connection with someone.

Then, Frank pays tribute to some fallen legends, A$AP and Pimp C, as well as Trayvon Martin. He's buzzing off some substance, chilling with his cousin and his girl who's weighing drugs (or fish scales, I don't know)! They even have some mermaids with them, because why not?

Frank is philosophical AF in the second verse, saying that he's letting others predict the future, but he's living in the moment. But then, the bridge takes a romantic turn. Frank promises to look after someone younger than him, even if they're not in love. He'll even save some love for them when they're not together. He's not "him" (whoever that is), but he'll still mean something to them. Just don't bring your roommate into the picture, it's only awkward if you're sleeping with him too. And just when you thought the song couldn't get any wilder, Japanese rapper KOHH jumps in for the third verse.
